Slow but never the less steady, culminated in the form of offshoot: Nirguna Children’s Home for sheltering, nurturing and educating very poor / orphaned and deserving children in the age group of 6-14 years old. Started and with four male children from an alemari backward community (Kole-basava) on 2nd October 2017, Gandhi Jayanthi Day, in a rented premises at Choodasandra, Bengaluru with formal inauguration on 25th December 2017. Children are provided with hygienic shelter, nutrition and given regular tuition to improve their academic learning in addition to creating awareness in cleanliness, sports and other activities such as painting, drawing, singing etc.
Over the next two years extended its activities to about 10 children including children from single parents and girl children at its resource centre at Rayasandra village.. Helped them to improve their learning skills, created awareness about their neighbourhood and nature by arranging trips to lakes, botanical gardens, national parks etc. Even during Covid-19 pandemic such distress period, Nirguna Children’s Home has continued its activities by providing free tuition and food to about 30 children from nearby govt. schools from Hosa Road and Rayasnadra village. The period has been a tumultuous and learning time, fine tuning the managerial skills, visiting and creating awareness in the schools in the neighbourhood. Covid-19 had taken its toll resulting in the suspension of its activities at resource centre, Rayaandra.
It left a devastating effect on the education and future of government school children, curtailing the studies, forcing them to join labour work with parents and pushing them far below the learning curve. Like phoenix, Nirguna Children’s Home came alive showing the way forward at its current premises in Kudlu village by providing free tuition and food to about 30 children from the govt. school since May 2022. It is a sight to savour, the eagerness of the children to learn, sing, dance and enjoying new found activities. Going forward, planned to house about 30 inmates mainly boys to begin with to nurture and provide education complimented with social and life skills.
“In the coming days, the Board of Trustees is planning to extend these services to more such needy children including girl children. All these activities need more monetary assistance for creating additional facilities. Your kind-hearted helping hand would enable us to implement these noble causes at the earliest. We earnestly request all our well-wishers to wholeheartedly participate in the activities of the trust and be our partners as part of the journey in securing the future of the under privileged children of the society.”
“VOLUNTEERING Nirguna Children's Home encourages volunteering activities. Interested people can visit the Home on Saturday afternoons and Sundays. Volunteering includes being involved with the children with various activities such as art and craft, teaching etc.”
